DMT facts
How is DMT made?: “Ayahuasca is a Quechua word and it means the vine of the dead, or the vine of the souls,” Strassman said. “So that points to the belief that drinking ayahuasca somehow provides access to the realm of the dead, or the realm of disembodied spirits. That’s been a belief that’s circulated around ayahuasca, or DMT, for quite a long time.” There are a number of ways researchers could test whether DMT is present in near death experiences. For example, you could ask someone who has had a near death experience to take DMT, then ask them to compare the two. Strassman said he’s had a few emails from people who have described a lot of similarities.
Research from the Global Drug Survey carried out in 2016 reported 2.24 percent of people used DMT in the last 12 months. It was among the least used drugs overall, with only kratom and modafinil used less. The primary effect of DMT is the experience of intense hallucinations that alter the individual’s perception of the world around them. The main effect of DMT is psychological, with intense visual and auditory hallucinations, euphoria, and an altered sense of space, body, and time. Many users describe profound, life-changing experiences such as visiting other worlds, talking with alien entities known as “DMT elves” or “machine elves,” and total shifts in the perception of identity and reality.
There is some evidence that DMT is also produced endogenously, in other words, it is produced naturally in the body, specifically in the pineal gland in the brain. When smoked, the average dose of DMT is believed to be somewhere between 30 to 150 milligrams (mg), and the onset of action can be felt almost instantly. The effects peak and plateau for 3 to 5 minutes, and gradually drop off with the duration of effect totaling 30 to 45 minutes. When consumed as a brew, the dose is between 35 to 75 mg. Effects begin after 30 to 45 minutes, peak after 2 to 3 hours and are resolved in 4 to 6 hours. See even more information at lsd drops.
DMT is an abbreviation for N,N-Dimethyltryptamine, a chemical which develops naturally in the brain, as well as in plants indigenous to Central and South America. As a hallucinogenic drug, DMT typically takes the form of white powder. To experience its effects, people may smoke DMT with a pipe or brew it into drinks like Ayahuasca and yagé. Additionally, DMT users sometimes inject the drug, although this is less common. DMT is sometimes called “fantasia” or “dimitri,” and it is one of the least commonly-used drugs in the United States and throughout the world. Most people who try DMT have already experimented with other hallucinogens.
A trip on DMT is described by users like “breaking out of a simulation.” People report being able to access the true inner workings of their minds, and describe the feeling of being launched into other dimensions, where they experience their consciousness existing outside of their own bodies. “One may experience coalescence with the very fabric of space-time, followed by the ‘blast-off’ into an alternate, alien realm, termed ‘hyperspace’ by some,” another user called Eli* told Business Insider. “The alternate realm defies all conceptions that we are accustomed to and typically presents as impossible geometric fractal patterns that possess eerie familiarity.” See additional details at here.
